Hosting Black List

I spend a lot of time helping people with their websites as issues arise. One of the things I know beyond a doubt is that your web hosting matters.  I also follow the general news from folks like myself who spend our time in web-tech trenches, the fast majority of these folks would agree with me on this black list.

I'm not going into the reasoning behind who's on this list but the basics are slow hosting and bad service.  So here is who I say to avoid.

 

Godaddy Hosting

If you use Godaddy as your register they are absolutely fine. But do not use theme for your hosting or email. The infrastructure software they use for hosting is well behind industry standards and from the many stories I hear, their support suggestions are often wrong.

I do use GoDaddy as a register for some of my domains but for little else. And watch those constant up-sells . . . .

 

Endurance Group International

You will see A LOT of hosting companies listed below, not all are hosting companies but among them you will see some very familiar names.

An outline of the backstory behind such a long list.  A few years back there were a ton of low cost hosting companies that offered great services, then those of us in the hosting tech industry started noticing a trend. Companies that were once great started giving sub-par hosting and the  support was simply terrible.

Looking into what was  happening and in each and every case these companies were being bought by Endurance Group International. Once purchased EGI started cutting back much to the detriment of the customers. After a while we learned to just avoid any company owned by EGI It just wasn't worth the chance.
